It has been years since I have been to a live rock concert. But the chance to see one of my childhood musical favorites Bryan Adams at the New Tahoe Blue event center in South Lake Tahoe was something i was excited to experience last night. The So Happy it Hurts Tour is on its second tour in 2024, making a stop in south Lake Tahoe before heading into San Jose and Anaheim this weekend.
Bryan Adams did not disappoint, now, no longer the 20 something Bryana Adams and his stellar cast f musicians last night rocked south Tahoe venue to a fun but limited crowd.
Opening Act – The Eurythmics with Dave Stewart
The night was kicked off with a great opening set by Dave Stewart from Eurythmics and a chorus of lovely ladies with amazingly different tones and ranges playing 10 or so of Dave favorites from the Eurythmics 80’s hits. Kicking off the show with an upbeat rock classic “I want a Man” Vanessa Amorosi, Australian singer-songwriter and recording artist, brought the crowd to its feet with her strong and sexy vocals.
Stewart showcased his classic mastery of the guitar all night as he introduced the crowd to a few hits that were big in Europe but never made it in the USA. As well as introducing the other singer sand musician in the house.
Main Attraction – Bryan Adams and Classic Rock legends on Instruments
Of course the nights main attraction Bryan Adams, roared on the stage with classic Rock style. Guitarist Keith Scott stole several moments of the night with is ripping guitar solos and his playful style added so much to the overall nights performance as he even tried out his personal “Tina turner Impression on vocals with Bryan”. Pat Stewart on Drums was a personal delight of mine for the evening as well.
After a few classic songs Adams invited the crowd to fill the front rows and fill in the empty seats, making the entire night more lively and exciting as fans stood and danced the night away to all their favorite Classics. Large Video Screen in back bringing the Crowd to center stage through out the evening. an inspiring moment in the evening as Bryan introduces the crowd to a song he dedicated to his father who passed last year. “Shine Light” brought the crowd to its feet with camera flashlights strobing in the dark Tahoe Blue Center.
Overall the concert was really great experience with so many of their classic hits being played, but maybe the most impressive performance of the night came int he last 30 mins to hour of the show whare Bryan took requests from the crowd and the band played on cue, what was picked. “Cuts like a knife was part of this set and seemed to be a huge crowd favorite and the entire stadium sang along throughout the song.
Bryan finished on stage for 2-3 solo songs with out the band, spending time for a little intimate relationship with the crowd and an extended good buy and thank you. It felt sincere which speaks volumes why this rock star from the 80’s has lasted this long in pop culture and is still producing albums today. His latest A 3 album set recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in London. this live performance is highlighted in the show as well.
Tahoe Blue Event Center
Wow this is going to be an epic edition to South Lake Tahoe for a very long time. The Tahoe Blue Event center in Downtown South Lake Tahoe was a great experience. With seating for 5000, easy access, great vendor experiences and not a bad seat in the house were some of the highlights. For the concert the acoustics seems really well suited for this concert style. The only draw back of the evening is the $30 parking fee for the event. Next time I’m might find a shuttle service.
We left feeling like we will return often for events, especially if they have the quality that we saw tonight in South Lake.
