US 395 California – Traveling US HWY 395 on the Eastern Sierra Slopes is an iconic drive. It stretches from the Mojave desert in California to the Canada border in the north, yet the bulk of its tourist traffic is from Mojave to Reno Nevada. Scenic as any long drive can be, US 395 also is home to some all time great Burger dives along the route.
Here is a short list of our Locals Choice favorite Burger Dives on HWY 395.
1- Mono Cone – Lee Vining Ca
Mono Cone holds a special place in our hearts because of its proximity to Tioga Pass and Yosemite National Park. The Jalapeno Cheese burger is our favorite burger on HWY 395. A little smaller than some of the other joints on this list, but for a hungry traveling belly this burger hits the spot.
Shakes and cones are obviously pretty darn good as well.
2- The Barn – Bridgeport Ca
The Barn is such an interesting little spot on the drive. Known for its friendly owner and amazing Mexican food as well, for this 395 traveler their burgers are sloppy good. Stuffed with all the right fixings this might be the largest burger on the list.
The Barn features some famous fish tacos and the Carne Asada Nachos are also a regular favorite. But once again for this traveler I will order the Jalapeno Bacon cheese burger with Pepper Jack Cheese and a side order of fries to wash it down.
3- Wild Horse Bar and Grill – Minden NV
The Wild Horse Bar and Grill in Minden NV is consistently voted a locals favorite for Burgers, Beer and Pizza. The only bad thing here is the parking can be almost impossible at the wrong time of day. For this Locals Choice we would recommend the Black n Blue Bacon Burger – Blackened spices, grilled onions, gorgonzola and thick sliced hickory smoked bacon
4 – Minden Meat and Deli – Minden NV
Another Carson Valley favorite the Minden Meat and Deli has Great burger sand sandwiches. one of the best selections of Tap beer available as well on 395. Great indoor out door seating and a local owner who is driven to provide the best.
Keep it simple here and try -Bob’s Mustard Burger1/2 lb house ground patty with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and mustard – you wont be disappointed.
5- Walker Burger – Walker Ca
This iconic stop is a regional favorite for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts. They easily could move up this list based on personal tastes. As a matter of fact if this was a Burger and Shake list they might be number one in several peoples list. A great outdoor stop with great food, friendly service and the best outdoor dining area along HWY 395 hands down. And they have the best prices we believe on this list as well.
We love the Macho burger (Bigger version of the Walker Burger) here Double 1/4 lb patties 1000 island dressing, lettuce, tomato, and pickle on a sesame seed bun. Ask for fresh red onion if you like! (We like) Don’t forget the milkshake. one of the regions best!
6- Bishop Burger Barn
Local Grass Fed Beef and all the traditional Burger joint extras. Fries, shakes etc. A classic can’t miss stop driving through Bishop.
